Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and BJP leader Chuba Ao today met Governor Brig BD Mishra (retd) at the Raj Bhavan.
The visits by two leaders comes a day with violence marred the capital city during the unemployment rally called by the Federation of Khasi Jaiñtia and Garo People (FKJGP).
What has spun speculations was the silence of the chief minister on the issue. Both the leaders were not willing to comment on what was discussed at the meeting but the grapevines said that the Head of the State has taken exception to the sickening and wanton violence targeted at innocent people.
The BJP Meghalaya in-charge was not available for comments as he did respond to calls even as state BJP leaders were not willing to inform his location.
Meanwhile, sources informed that Ao made a courtesy visit since he has not met the incumbent Governor after he took over office. Sources also said the saffron party has raised incidents of violence with the Governor and told him that such incidents are a “common affair” during such rallies called by pressure groups.
