IIM Shillong will attempt to arrive at solutions to one of Shillong’s most vexed problems – traffic.
A mega series of symposia on ‘Improving Mobility in Shillong’ will be held from October 14 to 26, organised by the institute. The intent of the symposia is to come up with “feasible and positive long-term solutions for traffic management in Meghalaya’s capital city”.
Detailed discussions will be held on traffic management and, along with eminent keynote speakers and intellectuals from a range of sectors, various departments of the state government will also participate to bring out solutions to the ordeal of congestion that the public face every day.
Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court, Sanjib Banerjee, and Chief Secretary DP Wahlang will be in attendance on the opening day as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
“IIM Shillong is geared up for the 13-day symposia series and is determined to come up with a blueprint to improve mobility in congested Shillong,” IIM Director Prof DP Goyal said, adding that it is not only the government but the citizenry who have to participate to improve mobility in Shillong.
