The All Jaiñtia Mid Day Meal Workers Union (AJMDMWU) has urged the state cabinet to consider their demands at the next meeting.
AJMDMWU adviser, Khroo L Pariat, said that the workers want an increase in their honorarium and for it to be paid for a full 12 months (the mid day meal workers currently receive their wage for 10 months in year).
The union’s demands have been forwarded from the Education Department and a decision will depend on the cabinet and Finance Department, Pariat added.
Meanwhile, he informed that the union has not received a response from the office of the Prime Minister with regards to the letter that the union submitted on June 6. The letter asked for an increase in the Centre’s share of honorarium from Rs 900 (the state contributes a further Rs 100) a month to Rs 4,000 per month.
