The Border Security Force (BSF) has been reaching out to schools as part of its months-long programme to mark the 75th anniversary of independence.
In the run-up to Teachers’ Day, which falls on September 5, the BSF has formed teams at the frontier, sector and unit level, visiting 65 schools on the international borders of Meghalaya and farther inside.
During these events, documentaries on the BSF were shown to the children, they were encouraged and educated about the recruitment process for various posts in the BSF, benefits, pay-scale and other facilities. Pamphlets on recruitment process for the rank of Constable, Assistant Sub-Inspector, and Sub-Inspector and Assistant Commandant were also distributed to the students to create awareness among them. Inspirational lectures against drugs and social abuses were also delivered by BSF officers and jawans.
Weapons exhibitions were also held at various schools throughout the state.
BSF Inspector General Inderjit Singh Rana congratulated the teachers’ fraternity and emphasized that they are the guiding light for the youths who will tomorrow become the pillars of the nation.
