The Amlarem unit of the National People’s Party (NPP) came away happy after a meeting with party vice-president and Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong.
In a release today, NPP Amlarem’s president and general secretary said that Tynsong had indicated that the party will repose its faith in Stephanson Mukhim, who ran on an NPP ticket in the 2018 election but lost to Lahkmen Rymbui of the United Democratic Party. Mukhim had won in 2013 as an independent.
The meeting was held on July 27 and Tynsong, according to the release, said that Mukhim will once again be the NPP candidate in 2023.
The party is set to finalise its candidates for West and East Jaintia Hills’ constituencies by September.
