The National People’s Youth Front (NPYF), the youth wing of the National People’s Party, met with Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio in Kohima today to push for stringent action against those guilty in the deaths of Rosy and Samuel Sangma, two members of the same family who died in June 2021 in the national capital.
Rosy, an air-hostess, died at a Gurgaon hospital. Samuel later died in a hotel. Family members alleged negligence and foul play were to blame.
The deaths of the two, who were residents of Nagaland, prompted condemnation from North East politicians and a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry.
Last week a case was registered by the CBI under Section 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC against two doctors of Alfaa Health Care Hospital in the case of Rosy’s death.
Today the NPYF met with Rio to demand that justice be delivered, especially in the case of Samuel.
“Samuel’s death close on the heels of Rosy’s death is a fact that cannot be overlooked and must be duly considered by the CBI in order to effectively proceed against the perpetrators of the heinous crime against the deceased persons,” the NPYF said.
By not pursuing the case against the treating doctors and the hospital under more stringent provisions of law, a wrong message would be sent to the society at large and justice would not be served to the grieving members of the family of the deceased, the NPYF delegation said in its letter to Rio.
