Bernard N Marak, Garo Hills Autonomous District Council member and the Bharatiya Janata Party Convenor for the Garo hills is wanted in a cases of running a prostitution, immoral trafficking and possibly under the POCSO Act besides other cases after the West Garo Hills Police raided his farm house called Rimpu Bagan in Edenbari locality of Tura.
Police raided the premises after a minor girl had identifed the Rimpu Bagan as the place where she and her friend had been taken and raped multiple times by men for several days. The family of the girl had registered a case of rape and kidnapping earlier.
A police statement said that a case vide Tura Women PS Case No. 105(07)2022 u/s
3/4/5/6/7 of Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act, 1956 has beene registered and being investigated.
All 73 detained persons have been arrested. The main accused is Bernard N. Marak alais Rimpu.
