The North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) has decided to appoint a campus in-charge in Tura pending appointment of a new pro-vice chancellor.
The decision was heard by Vice Chancellor, Prof PS Shukla to a delegation of the Garo Students Union (GSU) at a meeting held yesterday.
The VC explained that a proposal for appointment of a Pro VC will have to be made during the next Parliament Session and as an alternative, the campus in charge will be appointed in the next 48 hours.
At the meeting, upgradation of NEHU staff, interviews and vacancies for the post of deputy registrar and assistant registrar were discussed.
Meanwhile, interview for various posts at the Tura campus will begin soon and an examination cell will be set up, wherein students will no longer have to travel to Shillong to collect required academic documents.
