A member of the Achik Holistic Awakening Movement (AHAM) was arrested for allegedly kidnapping a girl, police said today.
The accused was identified as Kingston B Marak a resident of Tikrikilla.
West Garo Hill police said a FIR was lodged at Rajabala outpost about a girl who went missing since July 11.
During investigation, it was ascertained that the missing girl was abducted by Marak and was taken to Williamnagar, police said.
After information was shared with East Garo Hills police, the accused was arrested and the girl was also rescued. A car and two mobile phones suspected to have been used for the commission of crime has also been seized, police said.
West Garo Hills police also rescued two girls who went missing from Shillong on July 7.
Police said they were recovered from Kherapara yesterday.
Meanwhile, East Khasi Hills police said the accused person involved in kidnapping is identified as Rusbell Ch. Momin of Amongpara Asuri village.
Both the girls were handed over to their parents today, police said.
In another kidnapping case, a minor girl who went missing since May was recovered yesterday from Gomaijora, Phulbari.
Two persons involved in the case were arrested, while a suspect identified as Somsul Hoque is still absconding, police said, adding, efforts to nab the person is on.
