Former MDC Neil Antonio War who quit the United Democratic Party (UDP) returned back to the Congress party.
War, the former MDC for Laitumkhrah-Malki, has been with the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) before joining the UDP in 2018.
He along with founding member of the PDF, Albinus Lyngdoh were received by the Congress during a block convention of the East Shillong Block Committee held here today.
The programme was attended by MPCC Chief Vincent H Pala, MPCC Working President PN Syiem and other leaders.
War stated that the Congress will stay and that the party with a new team there is no doubt that it will lead the government.
Pala said, “There is a congress wave and everyday workers who are on the field and members from other political parties are joining the party.” He exuded confidence that the party will garner more seats in the Jaiñtia Hills.
Congress candidate for East Shillong, Manual Badwar, who will be pitched against the sitting MLA, Ampareen Lyngdoh, said, “In politics there is no such thing as fresh, but we stand for the people and they will make the decision on what is good for them and the state.”
