The Garo Students Union, led by its president Zikku Balgra N Marak, has started an indefinite strike and office picketing at the Tura campus of North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) due to the non-fulfillment of its demands. The pressure group wants a full-fledged pro-Vice-Chancellor, an account assistant registrar, ‘equal pay for equal work’ for NEHU employees, issuance of degree certificates and paper re-evaluation.
