The Dorbar Shnong of Nongkhrah has today expressed its deep concern over the seemingly abandoned polytechnic project in the village, which has been lying in its unfinished state for the past five years.
Led by the local headman, Celestine Syngkli, the Dorbar paid a visit to the site today and found that the construction work had been completely abandoned by the contractor.
The Dorbar Shnong and Raid had donated the land free of cost for the construction of the polytechnic with the objective that the institute will benefit the youths of the district.
The project was sanctioned at a cost of over Rs 7 crore, of which Rs 2 crore was sanctioned for the first phase, but the Dorbar Shnong is displeased that the project has been abandoned.
It wants an explanation as to why the project has been halted, Syngkli said, adding that the partially completed structure is being used as a den of all manner of anti-social activities and is not safe for residents to venture out to.
