Around 3 tonnes of essential supplies have been airlifted by Indian Air Force helicopters into South Garo Hills since June 17.
According to the government press release, IAF helicopters have made 13 trips since that date to provide relief to villagers stricken by the disastrous levels of rainfall that struck Meghalaya in the last two weeks, which cut off roads, washed away bridges and claimed more than 30 precious lives.
The IAF has been making aid drops in Maheskhola, Nekora, Bandrasora and Rangthangsora, the release stated. The relief materials include rice, dal, cooking oil, milk, sugar, tea, blankets and tarpaulins.
