The next session of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) will begin on July 6, Chief Executive Member Titosstarwell Chyne informed today.
Among the business of the house will be dealing with reintroduced bills and rules that were returned by Governor Satya Pal Malik with observations.
These include the Nongsohpoh Syiemship Bill, amendment of the Nongstoin Syiemship Act, Nongkhlaw Syiemship Bill and Mawiang Syiemship Bill.
Addressing the media following an executive meeting today, the CEM informed that the district council will also bring in amendments in the coming session to the Appointment and Succession of the Chief and Headmen Bill 2022.
“The EC has also approved to amend the rules for the administration of the Mylliem Syiemship 2022 where the appointment of an acting chief, acting headman, acting Syiem, acting Sordar, etc by the Syiem of Hima Mylliem will be allowed in the absence of a fully-fledged chief, Syiem or headman,” Chyne said.
With regards to the Khasi Social Custom of Clan Administration Bill 2018 that has also been returned by the Governor, Chyne informed that a copy of the bill has been circulated to all the MDCs and it has been returned with no objection and it will therefore be placed in the coming session.
