The Greater Laban Community Development Society in collaboration with the office of the cabinet minister cum and MLA 19 South Shillong Sanbor Shullai today felicitated Ankur Das who secured 52nd all India rank in the UPSC examination 2021.
Three students who topped the HSSLC examination this year from Laban Bengali Boys Higher Secondary School including the principal, teachers, and non-teaching staff of the school were also felicitated on the occasion.
In his speech, Shullai lauded the toppers for bringing laurels to the constituency and the Sate including teachers for their dedicated services and untiring efforts in moulding these students.
“The teachers always have a very important role and they are like a candle that shows the way to others and education is life itself,” he stated.
Ankur Das said that civil service is the only institution that a person can contribute meaningfully and directly. “Whenever I get a chance to talk to the media both local and national it gives me immense pride to say that I belonged to Shillong,” he said.
He was hopefully of joining the Indian Administrative service and said it that has become the forefront of nation-building over the last 75 years. “It’s an immense honour for me to join this prestigious service and I hope that I come back to the state and serve the people,” he added.
Earlier Vice-principal of Laban Bengali Boys Higher Secondary School Jona Goswami said, “Our responsibility has increased a hundredfold and we will work to the best of our abilities to take our school, the greater Laban and the State forward.”
