Tired of being left out of educational schemes, the Seng Khasi Forum of Un-Aided Schools submitted a memorandum to Rajya Sabha MP Rakesh Sinha, who has taken a special interest in matters relating to Meghalaya, especially the village of Khatarshnong, which he has ‘adopted’.
The form met the MP today to “apprise him of the denial of the state government to provide financial assistance” to the Seng Khasi institutions despite approaches made by the organisation.
Seng Khasi schools have been left out of the SSA, ad hoc and deficit system of government-aided institutions in Meghalaya, Sinha was told, even though some of the schools have been around for decades.
Sinha reportedly promised to raise the matter with the state and central governments, a press release said today.
