Concerned with the rising number of road accident cases in East Jaiñtia Hills district, police have decided to conduct an intensive checking drive throughout the district.
Superintendent of Police, Jagpal Singh Dhanoa informed that during 2021, 21 lives were lost due to road accidents and this year the district has witnessed eight deaths.
“It has been noticed that over speeding, negligent, reckless and dangerous driving etc are major contributing factors in most of the fatal accidents,” he said.
Urging people especially the young drivers not to indulge in reckless and dangerous driving while on road, which endangers not only the lives of the drivers and passengers inside the vehicle but also puts the lives of other commuters and pedestrians at risk the SP said that the district police will conduct intensive checks and those found violating traffic norms under the Motor Vehicle Act will be dealt as per law.
