The Deputy Commissioner of Ri-Bhoi has reminded the public that laws are in place that restrict the discharge sewage or industrial effluent into streams or wells or on to land without the consent of the Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board.
Similar restrictions exist to prevent the release of air pollution in controlled areas without the prior consent of the board as well.
The DC thus issued a notice to businesses, factories, food production establishments and the like to comply with such requirements.
Details for obtaining consent of the Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board may be sought from the MSPCB office in Lumpyngngad, Shillong, on any working day during office hours or application for consent can be made online at megicmms.nic.in.
