Seeing no future in the Congress, Nongpoh MDC Balajied Ranee along with other party leaders joined the United Democratic Party (UDP) today.
“We cannot stay with a party that has no future in the state and even in the centre,” Rani said at function held at Umwang village. He said the Congress is weakened by its leaders who he felt were “thoughtless and have no power to reunite party men.”
Ranee said the Congress in Meghalaya will soon vanish.
The Nongpoh MDC said he joined the UPD after a consultation with all the party leaders and supporters, who have no more faith in the grand old party.
He along with the members of the youth Congress and Mahila were welcomed by UDP president Metbah Lyngdoh, Adviser Bindo M. Lanong, general secretary Jemino Mawthoh and Ri Bhoi District UDP president, Donbok Khymdeit.
