Ahead of the 2023 Assembly elections all roads are leading to the NPP office at Lower Lachaumiere here.
Today, Umsning MDC Macdalyne S. Mawlong left the PDF and joined the NPP.
Moreover, the other new entrants to the party include former Assembly Speaker Martin M. Danggo, former KHADC Chief Executive Member Manstudy Nongrem, former JHADC Chief Executive Member Hambertus Nongtdu, former MDC Thomas Nongtdu, former UDP Ri-Bhoi district vice president Rayonald Kharkamni.
They were all welcomed into the party by NPP national president and Chief Minister Conrad Sangma in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, NPP State president Wanwei Roy Kharlukhi among others.
While Mawlong has decided to contest the 2023 polls from Nongpoh, Danggo is planning to contest from Ranikor.
Danggo’s love-hate relationship with the NPP has caught the attention of most political observers including his supporters in Ranikor.
In June 2018 he resigned from the Congress and also from his Assembly membership to join the NPP.
He contested the August 2018 by-election from Ranikor but lost to Pius Rani of UDP.
In February 2020, Danggo resigned from the NPP as he was unhappy with being sidelined by the party.
