Former chief minister Mukul Sangma along with two other leaders from the region has been appointed as All India Trinamool Congress in-charge of the Northeast.
The decision was taken at the first meeting of the new National Working Committee – TMC’s top decision-making body – which was held at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s Kalighat residence in Kolkata.
Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev and former MLA from Tripura Subal Bhowmick are also in the Northeast committee.
Sangma had joined the AITC along with 11 other Congress MLAs in November last year.
The former chief minister had earlier asserted that Trinamool Congress flags will flutter across the northeastern state in the next 45 days.
