Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi and thanked her for expanding the Special Assistance to States for Capital Expenditure to Rs 1 lakh crore.
During the meeting Sangma sought Sitharaman’s intervention to enhance the scheme’s allocation to Meghalaya for Financial Year 2022-23 for undertaking several infrastructure projects in the State.
The chief minister and met External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and sought the support of Jaishankar and the Ministry of External Affairs for the proposal to set up of a state-of-the-art Ornamental Aqua Park in Meghalaya with an aquarium for over 250 endemic fish species of the North East with technical collaboration with the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Sangma also met Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Naqvi and thanked him for accepting the State government’s proposal to set up a unique Medical Skill Development Centre in Meghalaya.
The chief minister also invited Naqvi to visit Meghalaya lay the foundation stone for the project.
