Police are following up on leads but there have yet to be any arrests made in the case of the armed robbery of a petrol pump at 14th Mile, Ri-Bhoi, last month.
That case was followed by two similar robberies in Shillong last weekend.
Two robbers armed with an assault rifle and small pistol held up the Highway Refilling Centre in 14th Mile on January 8 and made off with Rs 2.5 lakh in cash. In one of the Shillong cases, the robbers netted Rs 2.8 lakh while they were unable to get any money out of the second petrol pump.
Today, Ri-Bhoi Superintendent of Police Giri Prasad informed that police are trying to track the perpetrators down and are coordinating with Assam police in this as, in the 14th Mile case, the culprits fled over the interstate border.
Prasad could not go into too much detail on the progress of the case at this stage but he assured the public that the police have definite leads and are actively pursuing them.
