The United Democratic Party (UDP) has chosen Bathok Nongmalieh as its candidate for the Jirang seat at next year’s Assembly election.
Nongmalieh and some of his supporters joined the UDP today at a programme where party member and cabinet minister Kyrmen Shylla and UDP general secretary Jemino Mawthoh were present.
The party held a brief meeting to sort out its plans for the elections today. Others in attendance were UDP women’s wing secretary Pretty Kharpyngrope and UDP Ri-Bhoi working president Donkupar Sumer. The meeting was presided over by party district president Donbok Kymdeit.
A retired police officer, Ploster Syiem, also joined the UDP today.
