The Public Works Department has informed the general public that the Mawphlang-Balat-Gumaghat-Maheskhola (MBGM) Road is temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic after a wooden bridge on the route collapsed yesterday.
The bridge is located at Photkroh, South West Khasi Hills. It collapsed yesterday morning as a truck laden with bricks was attempting to cross it.
Vehicles plying towards Ranikor, Borsora, Nonghyllam, Nongjri, Khonjoy and Maheshkhola, etc are requested to used the Jakrem-Ranikor (JR) Road, i.e, via Mawkyrwat-Rangthong-Nongnah.
The PWD is attempting to repair the bridge as soon as possible.
