East Jaiñtia Hills police has submitted a charge sheet with regards to the Khliehriat police quarters IED bomb blast case.
Police officials said that the charge sheet was submitted to the Khliehriat district court yesterday. Stopmi Ryngkhlem, Issei Sungoh, Mishanki Pakem, Ranjit Kumar, Bahadur Shylla, Bolki Ladong and Sagar Suba are in custody in this case.
Five others arrested in connection with the case– Mani Phawa, Nangpynphriang Rymbai, Bringson Dhar, Damechwa Syrti and Riya-I-dame Ymbon– were released as no evidence were found of their involvement. Police have also written to the Superintendent of the district prison in Jowai to release them.
On July 14, an IED explosion occurred at one of the quarters in the police reserve at Khliehriat at around 1:30 am. There was no loss of life or injuries, but the explosion led to a loss of property.
The outlawed Hynñiewtrep National Liberation Council had claimed responsibility for the blast.
