The Ri Bhoi district administration has sought statements from the general public by January 5, whether there is any violation of the PHE order on supply of water pipes meant for the Jal Jeeven Mission.
This came following a complaint lodged by the Khasi Students Union (KSU), North Khasi Hills unit that the Jindal (India) Ltd is supplying poor quality pipes. According to the pressure group, the pipes supplied by the firm weigh only 6.05kg each, less than the contracted 7.38kg.
“Any person or individual who found anyone violating the order issued by the Chief Engineer, PHE Department for supplying GI Pipe by the Company Jindal India Limited inspected by Dr. Amin Controller Pvt. Ltd, a company approved by the government which is not in accordance with the work order issued by the government for the purpose of Jal Jeevan Mission, in Ri Bhoi District may come forward for recording the statement at the office of the chamber F.M Lakiang, MCS additional Deputy Magistrate, Ri Bhoi District on or before January 5, 2022,” a press release here said.
