An FIR has been filed against a Forest Department official for allegedly allowing trucks overloaded with limestone after taking bribes from them.
The FIR was lodged today by Umkiang headman Lasting Pala against Samdakiyo Shullai, a Forest Ranger of Umkiang Range.
In the FIR lodged at the Umkiang police post, Pala alleged that Shullai allowed overloaded limestone trucks to pass through the Forest check gate at Umkiang. It was also alleged that Shullai took money from the trucks before allowing them to move.
It was also alleged in the complaint that nine overloaded dumpers seized by Umkiang villagers for overloading were allowed to ply by Shullai.
The headman also sought immediate legal action against the Forest Department official.
