In another shocker for the Congress party in the State, party MDC from Rambrai-Jyrngam constituency Bajop Pyngrope today attended the felicitation programme of State Trinamool Congress president Charles Pyngrope.
The felicitation programme was held at Windermere, Umpling here and was attended by hundreds of members of Nongthymmai Block Congress Committee (NBCC) who also announced their decision to join the Trinamool Congress.
Speaking at the gathering, Bajop Pyngrope said that Trinamool Congress is a secular party and it will be accepted by the people of Meghalaya.
Wishing Charles Pyngrope a great future in the Trinamool Congress, Bajop said, “Trinamool Congress will grow and be accepted by the people of Meghalaya in the days to come.”
The MDC also termed Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee as the ‘Iron Lady’ of India who can pose a challenge to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP.
According to him, Trinamool Congress will be an alternative to lead the opposition and form a non-BJP government at the Centre. He also said that Trinamool Congress is a party of the common man and the poor.
Hinting that he may join the Trinamool Congress, Bajop said that he is consulting his supporters.
Slamming the Congress high command for disrespecting the opinion of all Congress MLAs and MDCs who wanted Charles as Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), Bajop said that after the new MPC president Vincent Pala was appointed he was removed from the post of general secretary of MPCC.
It may be mentioned that Bajop is a close confidant of Congress MLA from Rambrai-Jyrngam constituency Kimfa S. Marbaniang.
