In yet another setback for the Congress party in Meghalaya, James Lyngdoh today announced his resignation as working president of the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee.
Lyngdoh made the announcement at a press conference and said he has quit from the post as he was “stripped and sidelined” by MPCC president Vincent Pala.
In his resignation letter addressed to AICC general secretary, KC Venugopal, Lyngdoh however did not cite the reasons for him quitting the party.
“Served for 33 years and I never faced any problem with the past MPCC presidents but incumbent president Vincent Pala has decided to not give me any work and all of them have treated me like they don’t need me anymore,” Lyngdoh told reporters.
He said his decision was bases on analysis he made. Though he said he has always been a hard-core congress worker, Lyngdoh is weighing options to join other political parties.
Meanwhile, former general secretary Dr Manash Das Gupta too submitted his resignation as the chairman, labour department of the party to the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee.
“I hereby resign as Chairman, Labour Department, MPCC & Chairman, Vichar Vibhag, MPCC, with immediate effect. I also hereby resign from Primary Membership of Indian National Congress, with immediate effect, after having served the Party for long thirty six (36) years and also having served as General Secretary, MPCC, for long 14 years, till the recent Reshuffle of MPCC,” stated Gupta in his letter.
