The State BJP will now rely on a committee responsible to review performances in elections and to suggest future action plans for the party to gain ground in Meghalaya.
The party will shoulder that responsibility to its state executive members, karyakartas and party well-wishers to constitute the committee that is expected to submit constructive reports. This was decided at an executive committee meeting held today after the party reviewed all the setbacks it suffered in elections especially in the by-polls.
“After careful analysis, it has been observed that the pre-election calculation and expectation did not match the ground reality as we may have failed to identify negative trends on time and hence have not managed to rectify them,” the media cell of the party in a statement said.
Stating that time and again the state party has expressed concern and raised its voice against corruption, the BJP said, “We pledge to fight corruption till we are able to put an end to it.”
The BJP also passed its “Political Resolution” at the meeting presided by State President, Ernest Mawrie which was also attended by BJP national vice president, Chuba Ao and AL Hek.
In its resolution, the party slammed the Congress stating that it has always been malicious towards the BJP in terms of branding it non-secular, especially during the polls.
Stating that it stands by the concept of true secularism the BJP said “Our party still holds the goodwill of the people of the state despite the setbacks we have faced in elections. We will overcome the present situation and we will ensure that our party comes to power in the state.”
During the meeting the party members outlined the efforts of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for the Gareeb Kalyan package of Rs 1.70 lakh crore announced within 48 hours of the imposition of Covid lockdown and claimed that this has fed the needy of the country and in Meghalaya and the ration became popularly known as ‘Khaw Modi’.
The BJP said that it has also adopted a resolution to reduce vaccination hesitancy and to ensure that various centrally sponsored schemes reach the people.
