Mawkynrew MLA and cabinet minister Banteidor Lyngdoh has lauded the students of Mawkynrew constituency who excelled in their various examinations.
A total of 123 students who excelled in their SSLC and HSSLC examinations were honoured with the Mawkynrew Region Academic Excellence Award, 2021 at a function held yesterday at Good Shepherd Secondary School, Jongksha.
In his speech, Lyngdoh stressed the importance of education and urged students to make the right use of social media and not otherwise that could affect their future.
The Mawkynrew MLA said that during his tenure in the last three years he has seen how parents are working hard to educate their children.
“The children receiving the award today is paying back to the hard work of their parents,” Lyngdoh said.
He urged the students to pursue knowledge since this was the only weapon one can have even as he added one of his main objectives was to uplift education in Mawkynrew constituency.
Bankor Kurkalang, a teacher of a school at Thynroit village said that such a felicitation programme will encourage the students to do even better.
Others present at the programme include the Sordar of Jongksha, Olet Kharsahnoh, parents of the students, teachers, members of the PDF Zonal Committee Mawkynrew Constituency among others.
