The United Democratic Party (UDP) will push to see their elected members get important roles and positions in the MDA-led government.
General Secretary of the United Democratic Party (UDP), Jemino Mawthoh told Highland Post today that the party deserves a lot more with regards to the role and position in the MDA government.
With UDP being a major partner in the NPP lead MDA government, Mawthoh said that the party MLAs be given more responsibilities to hold important portfolios and positions in the government.
Stating that the rank and file of the UDP and the party functionaries feel the same, he said that the UDP elected leaders should get their dues so that they can also perform responsibly in running the government.
“If independent candidates are given important positions in the MDA government, elected members of the UDP should get too. We will push for this and see that the NPP thinks afresh on this matter because our demands are justified,” he asserted.
He said the UDP has been a guiding force in many aspects in the running and functioning of the MDA government and also provided much-needed stability.
“We’ll impress upon our elected leaders and Parliamentary Party leaders of the UDP to put more pressure on the government to take on board others as well because due consideration should be given to the UDP and its elected members,” he added.
