Tura MDC Bernard Marak of the BJP has expressed shock after he allegedly received several complaints from residents of Rajabala constituency on the non-implementation of central government schemes.
The complaints came while the BJP leaders have been campaigning in the constituency for their candidate, Kingstone B Marak, ahead of the by-elections on October 30.
“Most of the schemes meant for the people were turned into scams. Schemes like Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), which was supposed to connect every household with proper water supply, were not completed and many families were left out of the scheme,” alleged Marak through a press release.
Further he added that low-cost houses (PMAY), household latrines (IHHL), ration, old age pensions, zero balance accounts, widow schemes, flood relief, housing assistance schemes, SRWP (MLA schemes) were all in a mess.
“Everywhere we campaigned, people complained about scams and non-availability of the schemes. The job card holders complained about not getting 100 days’ work allotment and their wages being deducted after delayed payments,” he asserted.
Moreover, the people faced threats from alleged political appointees in the blocks.
“Low maintenance of roads, power supply and mobile networks has added to the grievances of the people. We have noted these issues seriously and considered it as a challenge to take up the matter with the concerned authorities. Such scams cannot be tolerated in implementation of the centrally sponsored schemes,” he added.
Bernard said that the BJP was here to end corruption and bring about good governance to the people of the state, irrespective of race or political affiliations, urging voters to choose the right leader to bring about the right change.
Earlier, senior leaders of the state BJP, including president Ernest Mawrie and MLA Sanbor Shullai addressed various meetings in an effort to garner votes for their candidate.
“My MLA (referring to Sanbor) was complaining of back pain after coming through the roads to Rajabala. There has been no development of the area and this needs to change. The BJP can bring this change,” said Mawrie in his address to the people.
