Petrol in Meghalaya reached the dreaded Rs 100 per litre mark today, an all-time high.
The price of petrol and diesel was hiked again today by 35 paise per litre, taking its retail rates to record high levels across the country.
In Shillong, the price of petrol jumped to Rs 99.84 per litre today.
In other districts, such as West Jaintia Hills, East Jaintia Hills, West Khasi Hills, South West Khasi Hills and South Garo Hills, the cost of petrol per litre was Rs 100.
Meanwhile, the price of diesel is hovering between Rs 92 to Rs 93 per litre in the state.
Like all states in the country, auto fuel prices in Meghalaya are based on a dynamic fuel pricing system and hence revised on a regular basis. The rates are revised at 6am every day.
Petrol prices had been stable since September 5 but oil companies finally raised the pump prices last week.
Petrol prices have risen on 13 of the previous 16 days, taking up the pump price by Rs 3.60 per litre.
