A one-day national webinar on New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and two training programmes were held in NEHU last week.
The national webinar on the theme “NEP 2020: Opportunities and Challenges” was organised by the Human Resource Development Centre, NEHU on October 8 in collaboration with Department of Education, NEHU whereby a total of 181 participants from all over India took part in the programme.
NEHU Vice Chancellor Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla was the chief guest of the programme and spoke on the different aspects of NEP 2020.
Prof. S Rama Rao, Director in charge UGC – Human Resource Development Centre, NEHU, Associate Professor, UGC-HRDC Dr. Quendarisa Kharbuli and Prof. Ibadani Syiem, Head of Department of Education, NEHU also spoke at the programme.
The overall response obtained was positive and encouraging with the majority of the participants finding the event very relevant and helping them.
Meanwhile, a one-month long Faculty Induction Programme for college and university teachers was also organised by the UGC-Human Resource Development Centre, NEHU from September 9 to October 8.
The aim of this programme was to enhance the skills, knowledge and efficiency of the teachers.
Dr. Kuheli B. Das, Coordinator informed that the major thrust was laid upon teaching and learning process such as micro teaching, information technology, research methodology, curriculum development and others. NEDFi Chief Executive Officer P V S N Murthy addressed the teachers at the valedictory function.
32 participants comprising six each from Meghalaya and Manipur, eight from Assam, seven from West Bengal and one each from Sikkim, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand and Jharkhand successfully completed the training programme.
Similarly, a two-week Refresher Course in Material Science and Nanotechnology was held at NEHU from September 24 to October 8. It was organised in collaboration with the Department of Nanotechnology, NEHU.
A total number of 38 participants from North East India as well as from Maharashtra, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Punjab Kerala and Puducherry took part in the training.
The chief guest at the programme was Prof. S Dorenjit Singh, Director IQAC, Manipur University while the guest of honour was Dr. Raghumani Singh Ningthoujam, Scientific Officer, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai.
