Congress legislator Charles Pyngrope today said that it is obvious that there are some “misunderstandings” among party members but that these can be sorted out through dialogue.
“In my opinion, all these misunderstandings can be resolved through dialogue and I anticipate that, very soon, the dialogue will take place. Or it may need the intervention of the president of the AICC (All India Congress Committee) to see that all these differences are resolved,” Pyngrope told some reporters today.
The Congress appears to be going through a spat between leader of the opposition Dr Mukul Sangma and the new Meghalaya Congress president Vincent Pala. There have been constant rumours that Dr Sangma may, in fact, jump ship and join some other outfit, in the process taking several other MLAs with him.
Nevertheless, Pyngrope said that Congress’ future is very bright because the public understands that the party has deep roots and can thus be trusted.
