Keeping the pressure on the government on the demand for suspension of all police officers who had a role in the recent killing of former HNLC leader Cherishterfield Thangkhiew, a sit-in demonstration will be held here tomorrow.
The demonstration will be held at the statue of Kiang Nangbah near Shillong Civil Hospital from 11 am.
KSU, FKJGP and HNYF units from Mawlai are holding the protest under the banner of ‘Ka Sur Ki Nong Mawlai.
“We appeal to all people to come and join us in this demonstration,” the three organisations said.
Earlier, the demonstration was supposed to be held at the parking lot near the Additional Secretariat. The decision to shift the protest to the Kiang Nangbah statue was announced today.
A few days back, some members of “Ka Sur U Nong Mawlai” decided to form a new group known as “Ka Sur Ka Bri U Hynniewtrep” with headman of Mawlai Phudmuri Sylvester Kurbah as the chairman.
Kurbah had said that soon they will hand over a memorandum to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on the demands initially made by “Ka Sur Ki Nong Mawlai”.
