The People’s Democratic Front (PDF) has written to the president of the Congress seeking apology from its general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala for his ‘Taliban’ remarks made at a conference last month.
“Dragging our state with the imbroglio in Afghanistan is utterly gross and unacceptable since we the Khasi-Jaiñtia people are peace-loving communities and want nothing but the spirit of unity harmony and brotherhood in our state,” PDF general secretary, Auspicious L Mawphlang said.
Mawphlang claimed, “The actions committed by our youths on 15th August, 2021 were purely vented out of anger. The youths and the citizens of the state are only using their democratic rights to ensure that peace and normalcy resume in our state and not to create anarchy.”
He said that the PDF expresses its “disapproval and disappointment regarding the ostentatious comments” for which the AICC general secretary has to immediately apologise.
