Free undergraduate education for 100 students from families facing economic hardship will be provided by Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU) for the 2021-22 academic year.
These students will be provided a full scholarship for the three-four years of the bachelor’s degree. Only a nominal application fee of Rs 100 will be levied.
These 100 seats will be provided in the following departments: Business Administration (BBA), Computer Applications (BCA), Environment and Traditional Ecosystems (BSc), Music (BA), Food Science and Nutrition (BSc) and Travel and Tourism Management (BTTM).
Preference will be given to a child of a parent who has recently lost their job or livelihood because of the Covid-19 pandemic, single mothers, orphans, transgender or disabled children in poor circumstances. Even after admission the university will provide academic mentorship and counselling support for the welfare and progress of these students. The Dean of Students has been tasked with setting up this special support system. Despite the pandemic, MLCU recorded its highest ever admissions in the 2020-21 academic year. So far about eight thousand students have graduated from the university and it has ranked in the top lists of private universities in the last three years.
