Cabinet minister James K Sangma inaugurated the 20 KL Cryogenic Oxygen Plant at Baljek in Jengjal today. The plant is expected to relieve the Health Department from having to import oxygen supplies from Assam.
The facility will cater to the needs of the whole of Garo Hills as well as parts of West Khasi Hills, Sangma said.
Stating that Jengjal is a strategic location, the minister informed the people of the region that more infrastructural developments will be focused on the region. He also informed that the sub-divisional hospital will soon be opened in the Jengjal area and this will be a referral centre for Garo Hills.
The minister further urged the people of the region to get themselves vaccinated against Covid-19 and informed that there are incentives for villages which have achieved 100 percent vaccination.
Sangma attended the inauguration in the presence of local MDC Grahambell A Sangma, West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh, Joint Director of Health Services, Dr JK Marak, Nokmas, Sordars and other dignitaries.
