The Garo Students’ Union (GSU) today stated that the delay to complete setting up of Jio cellular tower at Awegre, South Garo Hills district under Chokpot block has put people in the area especially students in great inconveniences.
GSU publicity secretary Chegan N. Marak said that the cellular tower was constructed in October 2018 but till date it was not completed.
According to Marak, people of the area are facing communication problems especially during emergencies and students could not attend their online classes due to non-availability of mobile phone network.
“If this tower is completed it will benefit more than 15 villages. The concerned authorities should into this matter at the earliest,” he added.
