Decisions on letting Lahkem Rymbui go from the home portfolio has to be taken collectively by the cabinet at an appropriate time so as not to paint a negative picture to the rest of the country.
This was stated by Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma today when asked by reporters why he has not yet accepted the resignation of Rymbui as the home minister.
Sangma maintained that whatever happens, the cabinet will take collective responsibility for all the actions taken. “We never let it go down to one individual. When the home minister had submitted his resignation, I strongly felt that it was not correct for him or for me to take a decision on knee jerk reaction, when we have to think about the law and order situation that we had,” he stated.
Therefore, he added, that it has to be done at an appropriate time after making sure that the decision will take place after taking all aspects into consideration.
The Chief Minister also said that the entire law and order situation required the team to be together. “I felt very strongly that was not the appropriate time to accept the resignation because it will send a negative picture to the rest of the country about our State,” he said.
