Assam Police on Thursday arrested two people and recovered heroin worth over Rs 4.5 crore from their possession at Jorabat along the Meghalaya-Assam border.
Following a tip off regarding shipment of a drug consignment from Manipur, the police intercepted a truck bearing registration number MN 04 A 9866 at around 4: 30 am.
According to police the value of the seized suspected heroin is worth about 4.5 crores and weighing about 660 gram.
The driver MD Warish (26) and his helper, Jennyson Tayenjan (20) from Thoubal district of Manipur were arrested in this connection.
A case has been registered in this connection at the Basistha police station and further investigations were on to determine the linkages, he added.
