The Forum for Good Governance has asked the state government to bring justice to the family of the former militant Cherishterfield Thangkhiew, who was killed by police at his residence in Mawlai Kynton Massar last week.
The forum, in its statement to the media, sent its condolences to the bereaved family and relatives and added that conflict resolution is an important parameter for society, which today “is at the crossroads of being drawn into the web of violence and militancy”.
The forum is of the opinion that mere peace committees will not help much since the killing was committed without taking into consideration the fall-out. Instead, the state government “must ensure that such acts are not committed in the name of tackling lawlessness and violence”.
The body also called on the public to hold the government accountable and to promote peace and prosperity for the harmony of society.
