The Hynñiewtrep Youths’ Council (HYC), South West Khasi Hills District has called for fairness and transparency in government job appointments while presenting its suggestions before the Deputy Commissioner today.
The HYC leaders met Deputy Commissioner, Caramai Kharkongor today and apprised her of several complaints they received with regards to appointments in government jobs that has demoralised many aspiring youth.
It suggested ways to prevent leakage of question papers conducted by the DSC or recruitment board whereby 20 sets of question papers should be prepared and distributed randomly to candidates.
Calling for installation of CCTVs in examination centres the HYC said personal interviews should also be held under surveillance and results be declared 24 hours after the interview.
The HYC said that the interviewer should not be allowed to call or carry a mobile phone inside the interview room till the result is declared and that such persons should not have political affiliation or members of any political party or related to the interviewees and should be Master’s Degree holders.
Stating that the process of asking for an experienced Certificate should also be done away with, the HYC said that candidates found seeking political back up, etc should also be booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act and should be blacklisted from further application of any government job in the entire country.
It further stated that officials and politicians found interfering in job appointments and breach of rules should also be booked as per the law.
