Incessant rain has left a wake of destruction in several parts of Garo Hills leaving one person dead, five missing and injuring eight.
As per the latest report from the Meghalaya State Disaster Management Authority, landslide and flood occurred on June 30 2021 under, Chokpot and Gasuapara C&RD Blocks including flash flood on June 28 to 30 at South Garo Hills and under Gasuapara and Baghmara C&RD.
Thunder Storm also occurred on June 30 under Baghmara C&RD Block.
The number of villages affected from April 1 to date is 342 while 6 villages were affected on June 30 under Chokpot and Gasuapara.
The total population affected from April 1 to date is 7,400 while 17 villages were affected on June 30 under Chokpot and Gasuapara and 40 villages affected under Gasuapara and Baghmara. Houses damaged are counted at 1,607.
The total crop area affected is 7.5 hectares while the infrastructure Damage like Schools, Aganwandi Centre, NH127B, Darokgre FlowIrrigation Project, 1 wooden bridge, the Mawkohphet Road (2.15 km), 12th Mile TD Road to Chokpot, Chokpot Siju Road, & Chokpot Sibbari Road, Rongru Asim WSS, Improvement of Siju WSS, Siju Duramong, Allokpang Nakalgre WSS, Mindikge WSS, Reconstruction of Balkal Asim WSS, Nengkong Songmong WSS, Rongra WSS, Ruga Apalgittim WSS, Sempara WSS, Revised New Dobogre WSS, Allagre Songgital Combined WSS, Damet Bugakol WSS, Dendangre WSS, & Baghmara c/s/c WSS, Mandanggre FIP.
