Under fire Block Mission Coordinator, Clarinda Marak today clarified on the allegations put forward by the All Garo Hills SSA School Teachers’ Association (AGHSSASTA) on the matter of SSA teachers having to clear the MTET examinations.
Earlier the (AGHSSASTA) called the move of the BMC to apparently hold MTET exams for SSA teachers as not only unofficial but also controversial and had raised the matter with the education minister as well.
The BMC called the entire episode a misunderstanding.
“A reminder was sent to the Block Resource Centre via a whatsapp message. There was no notification. This was misinterpreted possibly by some SSA teacher from Songsak Block due to which the entire thing was blown out of proportion,” said Clarinda.
She further added that in the whatsapp message there was no mention of SSA teachers needing to complete MTET.
“As a BMC I am responsible for all the teachers under my Block. Out of concern for them, the message was sent as a reminder to the teachers who were appointed after August/September 2010 so that they do not miss the last date for application. It is nowhere mentioned about SSA teachers as they already fall under the norms of the NCTE,” she added.
Calling the allegations against her baseless, the BMC stated that there was no question of superseding state authorities or even ‘self style’ functioning.
