Two cases of serious exploitation came to the fore after two women employees working in the College of Community Science, Central Agricultural University at Sangsanggre near Tura, filed police complaints against the Dean of the college.
According to the complaints filed at the Tura Women’s PS this afternoon, the two victims called the treatment meted out to them by the Dean as inhuman and illegal while exhorting the police to investigate the matter.
While one of the victims is a temporary security staff, the second one works as a female health worker in the institute.
As per the security guard, the Dean, since the past few months, had asked them to spend nights in her quarter within the campus. As she was the highest authority of the college, they obeyed the order and have been sleeping there for a few months now.
“Inside her quarter, I had to do work that is not related with my job description as a security guard. Every day I was forced to get up at 4.30 am to clean her house including her toilet. Moreover, I was forced to give her a body massage twice in the morning and once before sleeping,” said one of the complainants.
She further added that she was forced to even massage the person’s private parts even as she lay without clothes.
“I feel extremely disgusted and want all this mental and physical torture to stop but I was constantly threatens me that she will throw me out of this college if I don’t do all the work,” added the complainant.
The health worker also complained of similar torture by the Dean while adding that she was still being forced to work in the house of the Dean after office hours and on holidays. She too was being forced to give the Dean massages.
“When I mentioned this in the Annual Confidential Report (ACR), she stopped telling me to massage her. However, other tasks like washing utensils and clothes continued. I didn’t have the courage to complain but when I came to know of the security guard being similarly exploited, we both decided to come forward and complain,” added the health worker.
Confirming the receipt of the complaints, Superintendent of Police, Vivekananda Singh Rathore said the matter was currently being looked into. As the case is sensitive in nature, the SP added that details would be revealed later.
