Banks will not open on Saturday in East Khasi Hills, as directed by the Deputy Commissioner, Isawanda Laloo.
In an order yesterday, Laloo said that all banks and post offices should keep their shutters down on Saturday. Any banks that require to open for urgent government transactions only can do so after intimating this to the DC’s office.
Banks typically open on the first and third Saturdays of every month but their operations have been curtailed due to the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
